woofdum’s mini anime reviews | Summer 2012 animes
I bet that captured your attention biatch (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Yes, that’s right folks. It’s time for some good ol’ mini reviews and some ranting about the Olympics.
Olympics – we’re shit. End of story.
This season was a huge hit, and it was also the season of Jouka’s new renown trademark – the table flip (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I haven’t been watching a great deal… but I have been watching bits and pieces.
So without further ado, let’s get into it:
Sword Art Online
In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has been released where players control their avatars with their bodies using a piece of technology called Nerve Gear. One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive unless they reach the 100th floor of the game’s tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now…
Get some tissues folks cause you’ve gonna need to clean up the jizz in your pants after watching this. Sword Art Online was the most anticipated out of all the summer series due to its popularity with the manga. It’s amazing. The animation is surprisingly top notch and the action makes you jizz. The thing I don’t like about it is how it jumps from one episode to another. There’s too much of a time difference. I don’t read the manga so I’m not sure if it’s following it, but sometimes I’d rather know what happened in between the episodes.
Quote of the century:
“About 400, in around 10 seconds…
That’s the total damage you seven can do to me.
I’m level 78.
I have 14,500 HP.
My battle healing skill auto-regenerates 600 points every 10 seconds.
We could stand here all day, and you’d never beat me.”

The five members of the Cultural Research Club – Taichi Yaegashi, Iori Nagase, Himeko Inaba, Yui Kiriyama, and Yoshifumi Aoki – encounter a bizarre phenomenon one day when Aoki and Yui switch personalities without warning. The same begins to happen to the other club members, throwing their daily lives into disarray.
At first the five students find some amusement amidst the confusion, but this unwarranted connection also exposes the painful scars hidden within their hearts. As their calm lives are shattered, the relationships between the five students also begin to change…
This is one of the best animes out there (seriously). The plot sounded funny so I gave it a try and it turned out to be one of my favourite animes. I particularly like the voice actors and actresses of the characters; they fit perfectly. Each episode has got me laughing and I sometimes wonder, what would I do if I ended up in another female’s body.

Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru!
Abiding by his father’s will, Shougo was transferred into an academy where many young girls attend. It appears as though his younger sister (separated from him at birth) also attends this academy, and that she is trying to get closer to him without letting him know who she actually is. Problem is, Shougo seems to be popular with the other girls as well! Can Shougo “properly” reunite with his little sister while making a girlfriend at the same time?!

In the second season the story continues exactly where it left off previously. Professor Itsuki’s Fermentation Cellar and laboratory is ready for operation and with Sawaki Tadayasu’s unique gift to see and communicate with microbes to help, Itsuki’s motley group of students begin to process different fermented products like soy sauce and sake.
Well, I can’t really compare this to any other anime. This is more educational than your anime typical genres and well, it interests me being in the science faculty. But yeah, I’m not sure about your views. I like it but sometimes it gets boring.

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate
Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate follows the protagonist Yuuki Oojima, who attends Private Takafuji Academy, a large school with over 6,000 students. Yuuki is a member of the food research club, along with seven others, including his childhood friend Chisato Sumiyoshi. The members leisurely spend their time in the club not doing much activities. When the election of the next student council president comes up, the front runner Satsuki Shinonome proposes that clubs that have no merit should be sorted out and abolished. The food research club seeks advice from the current student council president Yakumo Mori, who suggests Yuuki run in the election as an opposing candidate. Yuuki learns about the issues facing the school and decides to run in the election.
Good. Funny. このアニメはまあまあで、ちょっとおかしった。

Oda Nobuna no Yabou
The historical romantic comedy follows 17-year-old high schooler Sagara Yoshiharu who one day time-travels to the Sengoku period, where all the major Samurai lords are cute girls. Yoshiharu meets Oda Nobuna, the female counterpart of Oda Nobunaga, and begins to serve her as a substitute of Kinoshita Tokichiro, who was killed.
I haven’t watched any historical animes concerning fuedal Japan except for the first season of sengoku basara. However, this one is pretty interesting. Well, I like the whole time traveling and romance theme more than the historical point of view. Meh…

Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai.
NEVER make a deal with a wet goddess you’ve only just met. That’s a lesson Ryosuke Kaga learns the hard way when he foolishly agrees to let Lisara Restole use some of his “essence” to stay in this world. Because despite her smoking hot appearance, Lisara’s actually a Shinigami, a Goddess of Death. However, she DOESN’T steal years off his life like any decent Shinigami would do. Oh no, instead she sucks him dry of something much more perverse by leeching off his lecherous spirit and draining his ability to enjoy… er… the things that teenage boys normally spend most of their time thinking about! And now that he’s been de-debased and de-debauched by her un-dirty trick, the poor regenerated degenerate’s only hope of getting his licentiousness renewed is to join the queen of mental-clean on her quest, since when she leaves our mortal plane he regains his normal immorality! But the termination of the probation of his reprobation isn’t guaranteed, because Goddesses of Death can be really harsh mistresses and it’s going to be anything but easy to go back to being sleazy!
lulz. CR chose a fitting title for the anime (well done!):

That’s all! Wow… I just realised how little I watch (and wrote cause I cbf) compared to the other seasons. Oh well (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
So what are your opinions for this season’s animes?
